Moving day
It was the 11th March 2004 and it was time to say goodbye to St Neots. The last week had been quite an emotional time for us all. Tiff had to say good bye to her friends and her school. She had a party at lunch time which her form tutor organised. It was lovely of him and James said goodbye to his pre-school teachers. We had a farewell drink with our neighbours and that was very hard as we had got quite good friends with them all. Especially Maria!!
Removal guys arrived!! We had them pack for us and it was great but strange. Weirdest feeling knowing you are moving but your belongings still sit there as if you’re not.I will give you a tip!!
We found that it was cheaper to get a firm from the area you are moving to if it is quite a long way.
They started loading up the lorry at about 10 am and finished off the last of the packing. We felt like spare parts as they did all the work. Mind you we made sure we kept the kettle and tea bags safe!!!!
It was a very emotional time as the house got emptier and the lorry got fuller. It was bloody freezing as well I might add!! The kids amused themselves so we didn’t have to worry about them! Barney the bunny was transported to his little box for travelling. The kids had Nemo and Dory, (goldfish) kindly bought for them by our lovely neighbours Dave and Maria, in bags and Tiff was going to hold them on the journey.
It was all done and loaded by lunch time and it was Colchester here we come!!! It was also St Neots farewell!! We had a last wander round and closed the door for the last time, boo hoo!!
