More Snow!!

On Friday the 30th we braved the blizzard conditions to visit my uncle in Hertfordshire. It was pretty scary at times as the snow was settling on the roads. We were travelling along the A120 very slowly and I could see David’s white knuckles as he gripped the steering wheel.

We got to Braintree and wondered if we should carry on as it was certainly getting worse. We pulled into a garage while I phoned a friend who lives further down the A120 near Stanstead. It was raining down near them so we decided to carry on. It did get better as we hit the rain and the roads became clear.

As we travelled further towards Hertfordshire, you wouldn’t have believed what we had left behind us as there was very little snow on the ground. We were glad as it made our journey easier. We reached our destination safely and were pleased to get there. We had a lovely lunch and a catch up with my uncle and aunt.

We were not sure what to expect of the weather on our journey home as texts didn’t seem to be getting through to friends back home. Once we got to Essex we could still see the snow in the fields and some on the edges of the roads. We definately had it worse here than they did in Hertfordshire. When we got to Colchester, there was still plenty of snow around despite the rain that was falling. It was very slushy and slippery under foot.

On New Years Eve it had almost gone and you would never have thought of the problems of the day before. Amazing weather we have in this country!!
