MGF-ROO Was Sick Last Week
It never rains, it just pours sometimes!! Yes my poor little MGF was sent to the car hospital to be made well again.
Last Thursday I was going to Tesco to do my weekly shop. It was a very cold day and I noticed that the interior of the car was not warming up with the heater on. I thought it a bit strange and the car just didn’t feel right. I went and did my shopping anyway and once I had filled the boot, I decided to check the water level. OOPS!! No water!! I took out the oil dip stick and discovered that I had thick creamy oil. I knew that the head gasket had gone. I rang David but only got his answerphone. I was amazingly calm, so topped up the water and drove slowly home. Thankfully, it is very close to home.
I rang the garage and arranged recovery from my house, and on Friday, I was gutted as they put little ROO on to a trailer and towed her away.
It was definatley the head gasket, and as she was due a cam belt change in a couple of months, it was easier and cheaper to add it on to the work they needed to carry out to replace the gasket.
I finally got her back yesterday evening after one of our neighbours kindly offered to take me to collect her. She drives lovely again now and I am so pleased to have Roo back again. Only one problem remains!! The code for the radio is not being accepted by the radio so I have no music to listen to when out and about.
We are going to try again tomorrow, and if it won’t work, the guys from the garage said to go back and they will try. Fingers crossed!!!! Will let you know!!
