Colchester Castle/Shopping

After spending the morning in school with our students joining them in their lesssons, making cream teas and having a sports competition, the German students and ours went off to Colchester Castle where they all had guided tours.  They all said that they thought the Castle was very nice and were surprised to see one in the middle of the town.  They thought the park was beautiful and a nice place to visit and sit and chat and play games.

After the castle, some time was spent shopping in the town, where the students were allowed to go off on their own and explore the shops and many eating places.  I think that Macdonalds was one of the places they chose to eat and the girls enjoyed clothing shops like New Look and River Island.

We waited for the students to arrive back to school at 6pm and they all seemed very excited.  They all had a very nice day and wanted to meet up this evening as a whole group.  Unfortunately after everyone had got home and had tea we all felt that it was a little too late as it was getting dark, so as they will have an early return tomorrow after visiting Frinton, Walton and finally Clacton, they will all meet afterwards to chill out.

The German students are very much looking forward to visiting the coastal areas as where they live, it is a very long way to the coast and many have never been to the beach before.  Hopefully the weather will be kind and give them plenty of sunshine so that they may enjoy a paddle in the sea.

Lisa, our student guest seems very happy to be here and is enjoying her stay with us in our home.  She and Tiffany are getting on very well and spend all their time together.  Each evening Tiffany has ensured that she has met with her closest friend and they have all got along very nicely.  It is a very busy time for us in our household and I seem to be rushing around everywhere making sure that everything is ok for Lisa, keeping things as normal as possible for James and running the household in general.  The week is going very quickly, but as long as it is fun packed for all of the students involved and they are all happy, it is worth it!!
