Chessington
Yesterday was one of the days they were all looking forward to the most. A day out at Chessington theme park. It is about 2 1/2 hours drive away so they all needed to be in school quite early to catch the coaches so that they got the most out of their time there.
Again they went off with a packed lunch each and money for treats. I spoke to Tiffany a few times during the day and she said that they were all having a brilliant time. I must admit, it was nice to have some peace and quiet and just chill out myself for a while before going to work.
I knew that the students were due to arrive back at the Gilberd school by 6pm, providing there were no hold ups. David was also due back from Ireland around 7:30pm, so it was quite a hectic evening. I had dinner to sort out and i was glad that I decided to give James his dinner earlier as Mr Reader phoned and told me they were going to be late and wouldn’t arrive until around 7pm. With this news, as I am the 1st person on the telephone tree, I had to then contact two other parents directly below me and pass on the information. This followed on down the tree until all involved were informed.
It was just a case of waiting for news once they reached the Dartford tunnel. Once again the telephone tree was put into operation so that everyone was well informed of time of arrival. Then they got stuck in traffic and the time changed to 7:20pm, so once again the tree was used. It worked really well and everyone arrived in time for the students. They did arrive at the time stated and all were tired but still quite excited.
They all had a great time and we walked home to have dinner. The girls both had a reasonably early night as today is the final trip before the German students return home.
