Diet motivation wobbles

19th January 2007

A few things have come together this week to take the motivation on the diet to a bit of a low.

  1. Diet Power has been reducing my calorie budget consistently since the beginning of January and it is now at an all time low, in fact low enough to start generating warnings that a budget below 1200 per day is not ideal.
  2. My body fat percentage is ahead of target, while my weight is on target. This implies that I am getting leaner, it also implies that to get to my target weight I may have to become much leaner than I was planning, something that can be quite hard to do. I have been told by my trainer that my weight goal may need revising upwards to account for my increased muscle mass.
  3. Possibly related: Although I am still losing weight, it is not shifting as fast as my plan. I am slowly falling behind schedule.
  4. I am now feeling good, physically. Part of my mind is whispering “you don’t need to diet any more”!
  5. I have a new gym program, which overall looks good – very good. But, it loses the twice weekly high calorie workout which I used to enjoy as it gave me a big calorie excess that I could eat that evening.
  6. The weather has been crap, so I haven’t been able to cycle to the gym and swimming pool.
  7. My 34” jeans are starting to get a little baggy, and I don’t want to go and buy another set. This is really silly.
  8. I have started getting cravings for sweets, which are hard to ignore — especially when Tiffany is sitting there scoffing Haribo Tangfastics.

I’m still plugging away, and need to get past this!
