Is it just me? The news media has gone nuts over the “fantastic” Nokia N91 being an [[iPo]d beater. This may indeed be the case due to convenience, etc. But, what is really annoying are claims like “Jukebox”, “3000 songs” and “CD quality”. Now, to be a jukebox style device you need to be able to carry your whole music collection, and 3000 songs is a fair shake at that. But, what does it mean to store 3000 songs on a 4GB hard drive? It means using a 40Kbps codec, one third of the rate that most other companies class as CD-quality. This is grossly misleading marketing. The trouble is that too many gullible people (including news agencies) swallow it. But “1000 songs” and “iPod beater” don’t work too well together, do they?
