The Garden

When we left Spain to go to the UK for a month we left behind a manicured, pristine and immaculately tidy garden!
Having looked through the beautiful flowing geraniums we saw to our dismay that we had arrived back to an overgrown meadow with weed filled borders. Oh joy! That will teach us to feed [...]

Problem With The Pool?

We were greeted 2 days after arriving back in Spain by the pool man, who looks after our pool when we are away, with the news that we had a SERIOUS problem with the water in our pool. He said that it was toxic and dangerous to swim in. He said he had had an [...]

Mum’s Visit

During Mum’s 12 day visit we took her to lots of our favourite restaurants and drove to favourite places that we knew she would enjoy too.
She tucked in and enjoyed all her meals here, especially the one’s we had at restaurants. She loves fish and had so much of it she could have swam back [...]

Time For An Update

Gosh is it really 12 days since my last entry!
The weather improved greatly after our first day back. We heard from friends that in the month we were away there had not been any rain at all and indeed there has not been any since our return either. Summer has now definately settled in for [...]

What We’ve Arrived Back To

Well the weather is naff here today to say the least. Lots of cloud and very windy so no different really to what we left behind.
Hope it improves!
Our geranium plants are a mass of colourful blooms but the terrace is very dirty with sand like gritty dust, leaves and debris from the plants. Major cleaning [...]

BroadBand Connection

Well it looks like my cancelled BroadBand Provider is still providing me! Having just been told that our new telecommunications system won’t be installed until mid June I think I’ll just carry on using the existing one and keep quiet until they contact me!

Back in Spain

Well we made it -eventually!
The lovely French decided to go on strike again and Standstead airport was blue murder. Ryanair had cancelled flights right left and centre and passengers were told they were no more available seats until Thursday! Poor people!
EasyJet had cancelled the flight due out prior to ours and had filled our flight [...]

Possible Loss of Access to Internet

When we return to Spain tomorrow we are expecting to have our landline installed sometime this week. In anticipation of this I have cancelled the contract on my existing Broadband system. I may have shot myself in the foot if they are not ready to install the landline!
So don’t be surprised if there is an [...]

Ancestors

David has forwarded to me a copy of a newspaper cutting reporting the death of my grandfather in action during the first world war. He had received this from a cousin of mine who has been in touch with him through Genes Reunited. This is a relative I did not know I had.
Receiving this report, [...]

Last Weekend in UK

We’ve had a very pleasant weekend. We went to Pam and Bob’s daughter, Lorraine’s for dinner with her and husband Geoff and daughters Natalie and Laura. Lorraine and Geoff cooked us a fantastic meal but poor Geoff was under the weather so could not eat anything. We think it was self inflicted as they had [...]
