To the UK and Back Again!
Yes! We have just spent 10 days shivering in dear old England returning here to Spain last Friday 3rd March.
As usual we had a busy trip. The purpose of the visit was mainly for Dr’s check-ups which took place most days. I’ve now had just about the full MOT. Good news is that I must be doing something right as I passed muster in all departments but most importantly, my blood sugar level has dropped so my diabetes is for the time being going to be controlled by diet.
We did manage to spend time with son David and family and with daughter Sally and family which was good and also with friends Pam and Bob, Denis and Muriel and Elsie and Jack so lots of eating out. Naughty but nice! We also spent an evening ‘at the dogs’. This was a very enjoyable evening and although we did not come away winning overall we did have a few wins during the evening which made our expenditure reasonable instead of excessive!
Travelling home from friends on Thursday night we noted the temperature to be -5 degrees. Brrrr! So as you can imagine we were really looking forward to returning to Spain to warmer weather. We landed at 9pm on Friday to 15 degrees, somewhat warmer I think you will agree. However, we woke up Saturday to lovely bright blue skies and sunshine but gale force winds which made it feel almost as cold as the UK and the wind is still gusting up here on our mountain as I write.
As is par for the course, Peter caught a flu- type virus infection to bring back with him. Don’t we always! I thought I’d escaped it this time but succumbed yesterday and it is not a nice thing I can tell you. Never mind, a few more days and the virus will be gone and hopefully too the gusting wind outside and we can settle down to enjoy being back in Spain.
Our first visitors of the year arrive next Tuesday for 10 days. They are of course our dear friends Pam and Bob and we are looking forward to their company.
