Back Home to Spain for a Rest! Don’t You Believe It!
We arrived back to our villa in Spain at about 11pm on Wednesday 29th November. Oh, was it good to feel warm again after 3 weeks in chilly England!
Although late, I unpacked immediately as there were things at the bottom of the cases I wanted straight away – how about that for good planning when I packed, I don’t think!
Thursday dawned after a lovely comfy night in our wonderful Queen size bed and it was my XX birthday! My cards and pressies from the family were what I had to find the night before! We spent a relaxing day, the hairdresser came and made me look presentable as we were going out to dinner in the evening with our friends and neighbours Tom and Sarah. You’d have thought we would have had our fill of eating out while in the UK wouldn’t you, but this was a special occasion! Surprise, surprise! When we got to my favourite restaurant – La Mesena on the Benitachell/Javea road there were more friends to join in my birthday celebration. Linda & Bob and Bea & Rob. Thank you all for helping make a lovely evening and for the lovely pressies and cards (hand crafted, of course!). After an excellent meal, desserts arrived with mine sporting the usual Spanish firework candle and accompanied by everyone in the restaurant singing Happy Birthday to me.
Is it now time to give the tummies a rest – not on your life! The following evening we were off again to the Restaurant El Canor with Tom, Sarah, Linda, Bob, Bea and Rob and this time joined by Diane and John. This was the annual Charity Dinner Dance for EMAUS. This is a charity supporting homes for needy children that Linda and Bob are very much involved in and that we support in a small way. Another excellent meal, great live music, fantastic meal and an abundant raffle from which every couple at our table won a prize. I was able to donate a whole serano ham and some chocolate goodies to the raffle from my recent good fortune (see Blog on Exciting News!), which went down very well. A wonderful evening which passed far too quickly. Thanks Bob for including us on your guest list!
4 days followed whereby we gave the stomachs a rest and settled back down to living in Spain. During this time Sarah and I had a crafting morning and we made Christmas cards for our friends in Spain. Peter put up outdoor Christmas Lights and I decorated the trees and interior of the house. So we are making our statement that we are resident in Spain the the festive season!
Wednesday it was back to the craft club when I was able to finish my glass painting for my candle lamp. It looks OK but I think I need to have a bit more practice as I cannot say I am overly pleased with my efforts. Everyone said it looked good but I think they were just being kind! The men were going to go on the golf driving range while the ladies were crafting but weather stopped play as it was very windy and the balls were not going to travel where aimed they say!
Wednesday was also Peter’s birthday so it was out to eat yet again with the gang. The eight of us went to the Las Vegas Restaurant in Teulada and again enjoyed a great meal. Linda and Bob had brought Peter a yummy chocolate birthday cake which was enjoyed by all after he had blown out the candles to the refrains of ‘Happy Birthday’! Peter sends thanks to you all for helping him celebrate his penultimate pension year and for the lovely presents and cards (hand crafted of course!).
Now we are resting from the social scene and the rich food until the next time – Tuesday I believe - when we are going to a carol concert followed by dinner out!
