It’s Going Too Quick!

We’ve been at our beautiful villa for 10 of our 18 days visit and the time is flying by far too quickly. When we arrived on the 15th March and I walked out onto the terrace I got the same buzz that I got on the day we moved in over 8 years ago. I felt I had come home!

The weather has been fantastic which is a bonus as I did not really care about that, just glad to get away for a break from the monotony of the last few months. I have not done anything strenuous on the work front but just relaxed and watched Peter beavering away.  He has ‘played’ with his new toy and power-hosed everything in sight, emptied the disgustingly messy pool ready for a much needed chemical cleaning and has done masses of cutting back trees and shrubs in the garden, which had become very overgrown in our absence.

Surprisingly the villa was in good shape and we must thank the wonderful Maggie for looking after the place in our absence and lovingly tending our plants on the terraces which are in full bloom and looking beautiful. We have taken a pool cleaner and gardener on board until we are back in situ more permanently so there won’t be so much catching up for Peter to do on future visits.

While the pool is empty I have decided to have a motif put in the bottom and have chosen a sea lion bouncing a ball on his nose! Unfortunately the motifs are made to order so it won’t be finished while we are here this time but it will be a nice surprise to see on our next visit.

We have seen most of our friends and had some lovely meals out with them, nice to have a 3-course meal including wine, bread and ali-oli for £10 a head again! Maggie cooked us one of her fantastic meals on Saturday, Peter and I enjoyed a lovely fish lunch sat in the sun in the square in Moraira on Mother’s Day and 7 of us went out to dinner celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary  on Monday and we’ve still got some socialising to do before our visit is over!

I’ve really enjoyed being able to go back to craft and learning new techniques again. Us group of ladies have had two afternoons of lovely girlie chat and some good laughs while our hands have been busy crafting and I have finished off a couple of projects I started last year.

I had a lovely girlie shopping day at the Mall in Ondara with my friend Lesley. I dented the bank account again, lol, and was exhausted at the end of the day – did just a bit too much and did not realise it until the evening but I’m OK now and it was worth it. Peter has enjoyed going to the driving range with Bob again and hitting a couple of buckets of balls and was happy that he can still hit them high and straight!

All our friends here have exclaimed how well I am after the traumas I’ve been through and at how good I look with the weight loss. I feel all the good meals might have damaged that a bit though! I finish my 3rd round of chemo this morning and have got through that OK again without any problems apart from tiredness but then I have been doing more gadding about than I have done for months so that is to be expected.

I’m now going to enjoy the rest of our visit, can’t say I’m looking forward to going back to the UK but I will have our next visit to look forward to, hopefully in June.
