Back in the UK

We arrived back in the UK last Wednesday after a very good flight and journey. First time flying with Ryanair and I can’t really fault them. My only comment is that they do park the plane up at the furthest point from the departure lounge on the way out and from luggage collection on the return, that’s budget airlines for you. Thank goodness I swallowed my pride and had booked a wheelchair as the lengths to walk would have knackered me. Dare I say that I’ve a good mind to always book one even when I don’t have an excuse as we really got the VIP treatment both on ground and in the aircraft. Hmm, must think about that carefully! Friends Pam and Bob met us at Stanstead and we stopped off at The Mill in Huntingdon for a meal on the way home to Warboys. It was very nice and also nice to catch up with our friends again.

We had a wonderful time in Spain and managed to catch up with lots of friends. The weather was fantastic for the first 14 days but it rained for the last 3 days.I’m not complaining about that though and have come back with a nice tan. We had lots of scrumptious meals out and I payed the price by putting back on 4 pounds of my 3 stone weight loss! I knew I shouldn’t have had that second slice of  Maggie’s wonderful cheesecake,  the chocolate mousse at Tico Tico, or that strawberry pancake, at Verdi Vent!

It was up bright and early Thursday morning to go to the chemo clinic. My bloods were fine and I started round 4 of the 8 courses of my treatment. I have been so lucky so far, as apart from tiredness, I have not had any nasty side effects. The clinic is always so busy, the doctors and nurses are very kind and friendly, there is a comradie amongst all the patients who all chat to each other and the WVS positively drown you in tea and coffee which is just as well as we are usually there for about 4 hours. Good job we get free parking!

Peter left working flat out in the garden in Spain to return to work on the garden in the UK. He has decided to widen a flower bed and has nearly finished so I see a trip to the garden centre looming! Just as well that he likes gardening I think! I actually ventured out and did a lot of weeding yesterday and felt good for doing it and like to think I was of some help to Peter. I am also back to doing the housework, although I still leave the hoovering for Peter to do. I’m also back in the kitchen and actually think Peter resents me being there as he has quite enjoyed cooking the meals over the last 7 months and says I interfere.

I’m busy plowing through 80 years of photographs at the moment and scanning many into my computer as I want to incorporate them into my Life Story that I have been writing for the last 6 years and have nearly completed up to the present date. It’s very nostalgic looking at the old photographs and also surprising how much the old memory has dragged up from my life. I’ve enjoyed doing this tremendously and hope that future generations will enjoy reading it and seeing pictures of their ancestors.

I brought a lot more of my crafting materials back with me and must have as much here now as I have left behind in Spain. I have lots of birthday cards to make and although it is only April will start soon on making my Christmas cards too.

Well, I must get back to scanning photos now and I’ve still got a cupboard load of photos to look through as well. More ramblings soon.
